Saying goodbye to the kids
A few years ago I was looking for something different to do over the Thanksgiving holidays and discovered Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village program. One posting said “give thanks by giving back” and I was hooked – off I went to Mexico to learn to lay brick and meet some amazing people.
Since then I’ve tried to do one trip a year with Habitat and some other fun travels on my own. After trips to Mexico, India, El Salvador, Egypt, Ethiopia and Mozambique, I took the Habitat Leadership training. I will be leading my first team back to Mozambique in October 2012.
